The dumbbell, a type of free weight, is a piece of equipment used in weight training. It can be used individually or in pairs, with one in each hand.

Dumbbell Exercise and its benefits
By using dumbbells to exercise in your workout routines your main benefit is that on top
of exercising the main muscles, the various stabillzing muscles also benefit  and develop.
This contrasts with exercising on gym machine equipment.s where the main targeted muscles are
isolated and are the only ones being utilized and developed.
Dumbbell exercises helps complicit muscles to grow both in strength and size together and
prevents muscle groups from developing independently and out of sync.
Equipment's Required
Minimum requirements are needed when using dumbbell exercises in your workout routines as
the only you will need only access to a pair of dumbbells and a workout bench.By using only
these two pieces of simple equipment you can perform numerous exercises and can target every
major muscle group in your body.
Dumbbells are available in different  models and sizes(weights) but basically you’re faced with
two choices of getting a set of dumbbells with a fixed weight or
getting dumbbells that can be adjusted weight wise (movable plates) where you can add different
weight configurations to your dumbbells.
A set of these fixed weight dumbbells may be costlier but will afford you the greater ease of use
while the adjustable weight sets have to be adjusted each time you’re work out with the dumbbell.
What Techniques to use and and what to avoid ?
It is highly recommended to use and maintain good posture when performing dumbbell exercises.
For example when doing the biceps curl keep your upper body very still when doing the exercise to
maximize the benefit to your workout and prevent cheating.
Words of Caution
Use caution when  working out with dumbbells there is high risk of injury is especially because your
body is not fixed in position as is the case when using gym-type machines, it is especially important
to be careful in maintaining a good posture throughout your exercise routine.
Moreover, you’ll want to be careful when picking up the dumbbells from the floor and placing them
back after your completion of a dumbbell exercise as the risk of injury is high then.
Cheating during dumbbell exercises is common since dumbbells generally do not isolate muscles,
“cheating” can be very tempting and involves using body movements that help you perform a dumbbell
exercise more easily.
Cheating as an example would be to sway your upper body forward and back when doing the biceps curl.
Although the dumbbell exercise will be easier to perform that way, you are effectively cheating
yourself out of gains in your target muscle groups.
